2016 Coaching Staff
Head Coach: Irene Rodriguez
My name is Irene Rodriguez and I joined the Los Tiburones coaching staff as the 8 and under coach in 2014. I am a native to Tucson and a graduate of Salpointe Catholic High School in 2007, followed by the University of Arizona where I majored in Physiology. My educational pursuits have now taken me back to school where I am studying to become a dental hygienist.
I began swimming competitively at 6 years old, and turned my sites to teaching at coaching when I was 16. In addition to my time with Los Tibs, I have also coached at the NW YMCA, Pima County Parks and Rec, and Ironwood Ridge High School.
I am a dedicated and focused professional, in pursuit of helping each of my swimmers achieve their individual goals in a fun, challenging, and exciting program.

Assistant Coach – Laura Moore
During the summers when I was 7 and 8, my folks would drop me off at the pool on their way to work and pick me up in the evening when they were coming home. I think my love for the water was born from all the time in it. Nothing but fun! From there I swam competitively, swam at a division I college and now swim with masters and on my own. I started coaching in 2002 and started a nonprofit called Find Your Fins in 2014. As a teacher and coach my main goal is to foster a life-long love of swimming while being particular about technique and efficiency. I’m thrilled to be with Los Tibs this summer. Can’t wait to see all the fins growing!
